Introduction

Storrs lodges hold 9 self catering units, for upto 4 guests for 8 lodges and upto 2 guests for 1 lodge. Set in the grounds of Storrs Hall, situated by the lake shore, with some of the lodges looking down to the lake shore. Every lodge has central heating, double glazing, fully equiped kitchen, lounge/dining area and bathroom and/or shower. Outside a patio with a picnic bench.

• Storrs Lodges are situated on the road between Bowness-on-Windermere and Newby Bridge, next to Storrs Hall Hotel, off the A 592, approx. 2 miles south from Bowness. The nearest motorway exit is junction 36 of the M6.
• A bus regularly passes hourly, route between Windermere and Barrow.
• Distance to Bowness: walking approx. 20 min., car approx. 5 min.
• Taxis can be ordered, enquire at hotel reception.
• Gravel paths and/or steps provide the only access to the lodges from the car park and are unsuitable for guests with mobility issues, especially those who require wheelchair access.
• Layout plans of each lodge are available on the website.
• Terms and conditions are available on the website.
• Letting periods vary, please enquire when booking.

 
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

• Ample car parking for the lodges. 
• Unloading of the car(s) is to be done from the car park, and not in front of the lodges and this access to the lodges only by steps. One of the access paths is a covered (gravel) walk way and is lit.
• Assistance can be offered, please enquire at the hotel reception.
• The lodges offer no provisions for dogs. 
• Registering and receiving a key takes place at the hotel reception.

. The width of doors in the various lodges (including each front door) vary between 70 – 74 cm.

 
Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area

• Checking in for the lodges takes place at the hotel reception. One key per lodge is handed out.
• The hotel reception is open all day. The hotel is locked at night from 11pm till 7am, but a night porter can be reached by pressing the front door bell.
• Access to the reception area, from the main car park, is all level.
• The lodges can only be accessed from the car park(s), by using the steps. The covered walkway has a handrail and this walkway path is partially gravel.
• The entrance to each lodge is not level and a step has to be taken to enter the lodge.

 
Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc

• There are no lifts, etc. leading up to the lodges.
• Flooring in the hotel is carpetted, as are the lodges.
• The hotel has no public telephone.
• Lodge guests can use the hotel facilities, unless part or the whole of the hotel has been booked by private parties. Information on this can be obtained from reception.
• All the hotel public areas are on the ground floor and are all level.

 
Public Areas - Sitting room, lounges, lobbies etc

• All public areas of the hotel are on the ground floor.
• Lodge guests can use the hotel facilities, unless part or the whole of the hotel has been booked by private parties. Information on this can be obtained from reception.


Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Bar area

• Lodge guests can use the hotel facilities, unless part or the whole of the hotel has been booked by private parties. Information on this can be obtained from reception.

 
Laundry

• The lodges have no laundry facilites. Not in the lodges or in the hotel.
• In the lodge is information for a nearby laundry facility in the centre of Windermere, by car approx. 5 minutes away.

 
Shop

• There is no shop on site.
• Shops can be found in Bowness-on-Windermere or Windermere. Booths Supermarket in Windermere is most advisable, with its own car parking facilities (unlike many other shops).
• An information board is in each lodge.

 
Leisure Facilities

• There are no leisure facilities on site.

The Burnside in Bowness, The Swan at Newby Bridge, The Winderemere Manor in Windermere all offer day use/membership.

 
Outdoor Facilities

• Lodge guests can walk the extensive grounds. 

• When using the outdoor patio, to consider at all times the other guests, in e.g. keeping noise down and repect the privacy on the patio side when passing other lodges and control barking of dogs.

 
Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas

• 8 Lodges hold 2 bedrooms and 1 holds 1 bedroom. 
• The sleeping arrangements can vary per lodge. Please enquire when booking.
• Layout plans of each lodge are available on the website.
• Terms and conditions are available on the website.
• Each bedroom has ceiling lights and bedside lamps. 
• The main bedroom has an electric clock and a hairdryer.
• Bed linen is provided (duvets).
• Additional blankets are available.
• Each bedroom has its own cupboard and hangers (in general 6 per person).
• The bedrooms do not have a television.

 
Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [Ensuite or Shared]

• 8 Lodges have combination of bath and shower and 1 lodge has shower only.
• Heated towel rail available in bathroom.
• Towels are provided.  Robes are available for hire.

 
Self-Catering Kitchen

• The kitchen is well equipped. It holds: electric cooker, oven, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, crockery, cutlery, glassware, pans, kitchen utensils. (The units do not have a dish washer).
• The lounge/kitchen area has a colour television and there is a provision for playing DVD's.
• Access to the patio area is from the lounge/kitchen area, where a picnic bench is provided.

 
Attractions (Displays, exhibits, rides etc.)

• Information on attractions, etc. in the area can be obtained from the hotel reception or otherwise from the tourist information centres in Bowness or Windermere.

 
Grounds and Gardens

• Lodge guests can walk the extensive grounds. 


Additional Information

• Each lodge has a smoke detector, which is not linked to any central alarm system.
• In case of a fire other lodge guests can be alarmed by raising the alarm, by pushing an alarm button which is situated outside under the walkway, centrally located among the 9 lodges. Fire fighting equipment is also available under the walk way.
• Dogs are permitted, at a charge, in 3 of the lodges. Please enquire when booking.
• The lodges hold no provisions for dogs.
• Smoking is not permitted in the lodges.
• The hotel reception can be contacted in case of emergencies.

. Daily newspapers can be ordered at reception and collected daily from the reception. Charges to settle on departure.

. Internet wifi access is available at the hotel, but not in the lodges. Guests do have to bring their own laptop. Please enquire at reception for access.

Future Plans

• There are soft refurbishment plans due to the lodges over the next year.

There are also future plans for conversion of the lodges, possibly no longer use as self catering but this is yet to be confirmed.
