Andrew, General Manager

Andrew Nicholson, General Manager

Few people know the Lake District better than Andrew Nicholson, who joined Storrs Hall in 2017 after eight years at the Linthwaite House Hotel in Windermere. Andrew has overseen a number of 4* hotels and Michelin star restaurants and is also a qualified chef with 30 years’ experience in the hospitality industry.

“It's always a pleasure to welcome people to Storrs Hall – you can just sense them relaxing the minute they arrive, because it really is such a tranquil environment.”

Sarah Graham-Harrison, Deputy General Manager

Sarah is a very experienced manager who always strives to exceed guests' expectations. She grew up and studied in Hampshire and has now worked in hotels across the country, including the Devonshire Arms in Yorkshire, the Chester Grosvenor, and the Holbeck Ghyll Country House Hotel in Cumbria.

“I first worked in the north west nearly 30 years ago, and have been coming to the Lake District since I was a child as my grandparents lived in Cumbria, so I think I'm qualified to describe myself as a 'local' by now! It's such a friendly and beautiful area, and we are very lucky to have such a beautiful spot on the shore of Windermere.”

Ross, head chef

Ross Marshall, Head Chef

Ross is a third-generation chef – his grandfather and mother were both head chefs, and he says that he fell in love with the buzz and atmosphere of the kitchen as soon as he entered the ‘family profession’ aged 16. Ross has headed up the kitchen team at Storrs Hall since spring 2016, after previously working for the Dorchester Collection – Cowarth Park, The Old Course, and Celtic Manor.

“I like to keep our menus regularly updated, so I am always on the lookout for new ideas, techniques and ways to showcase the best of the wonderful local Cumbrian produce.”

Ashleigh, weddings and events coordinator

Ashleigh Campbell, Weddings and Events Coordinator

Ashleigh’s first job was as a ‘groom’ for an Olympic horse jumper. Now, having moved into the hospitality industry, she is more accustomed to looking after brides and grooms herself, as our wedding and events coordinator.

“This is such a beautiful venue, that I really love showing people round – they are already picturing their wedding photos in this amazing setting, so it’s not too hard a sell!”

Fred, house manager

Fred Milando, House Manager

Fred started working at Storrs Hall in 2007 and has been a favourite of all guests since joining the property from the Low Wood. Originally from Lake Victoria in Kenya, he has held the position of Restaurant Manager, Guest Relations Manager and is now House Manager making sure the Guest Experience is spot on.

“I am extremely fortunate to have been at Storrs Hall for a decade now, working in one of the most beautiful parts of the world as part of a fantastic team. I have worked in a variety of roles at Storrs Hall, but my focus remains always on the customer and ensuring their every need is taken care of.”
